American Revolution
Women
The Americans were fed up with the British and their harsh rule. For eight years the colonists fought for what they wanted, but some couldn't turn against Britain so they turned against themselves too. When that happened, it was Patriots against Loyalists and Britain. The three fought all through the colonies in America, each winning their own battles. Tactics changed, weapons got better, leaders arose, and eventually Britain fell. The battle of Yorktown was the last battle and the Americans reigned victor. Many brave people risked and lost their lived for what they believed in. We remember the men and who came and went to war, as we should, but women deserve a lot of credit too.
The Revolutionary War was a big part in our history, and women don't get a lot of credit for their contributions. But behind the scenes they did do a lot to help the outcome of the war. So next time you learn or think about America's first war, remember what had to happen outside of the war front to aid in victory.
